Parity, health care reform and the patient centered medical home are in, but will substance abuse be in with them?
I am the liaison from ASAM to the Primary Care Patient Centered Collaborative and on their behavioral health subcommittee. Recently I attended the annual Society of Teachers of Family Medicine meeting and had a workshop on Addressing Substance Use Disorders in the Patient Centered Medical Home. I am organizing a symposium on the subject for next year's ASAM Med-Sci.
Here are two good web resources and my own workshop PDF:
Visit www.pcpcc.net and click on Behavioral Health link (left column)
Visit the National Council site and read their new report, "Substance Use Disorders and the Person-Centered Healthcare Home."
In addition open this PDF file for resources that were handed out at my workshop.
